Ecotech Institute to Host Green Jobs Open House With Panel of Industry Experts, Including CCIA Exec Dir Chris Shapard

"Ecotech Institute, the first and only college focused entirely on preparing America's workforce for careers in renewable energy and sustainable design, will host an open house on Tuesday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. The open house will feature an impressive panel of guest speakers to discuss the booming green industry and how to obtain and prepare for careers in the cleantech sector.

Potential and current Ecotech Institute students will gather to listen to the discussion and participate in a Q&A session. Ecotech's first class of students boasts an almost perfect attendance rate, proving their dedication to preparing for future green careers. The open house will not only feature the guest speakers, but also allow potential students to meet faculty, staff and current students.

BACKGROUND: Will corporations lead cleantech out of the "valley of death?" - Despite the enthusiastic support for cleantech from governments and large companies all over the world, the journey for a cleantech product from prototype to commercial scale remains so difficult that many in the industry have taken to calling it "the valley of death."

How will the industry escape this predicament? Part of the answer may be new financing and corporate partnership models that satisfy the funding requirements of a capital intensive industry as an acceptable level of risk for investors.

Corporations are being driven to implement a resource-efficiency agenda based on cleantech to improve operations and reduce costs, respond to climate change, achieve sustainability goals, generate revenue, decrease dependency on fossil fuels and comply with current and anticipated regulations.
